Hero Indian Open 2026 Preview
And we are back with less than a month to go to the Masters now. And this is your picks, sleepers, and fades for the Indian Open. Last event before the Masters. Last chance for the DP World Tour gang to try and get themselves down Magnolia Lane for this year. Yeah, man. I can’t wait for it. I really can’t wait for it. Um, who’s your picks this week?
Um I will let you know after we’ve consulted the agent AI gent the AI gent um so yeah we’ll quickly run through the um data golf model um incorporate incorporated by the AI agent the AI agent need to work out how I say that properly um run through what’s uh what’s necessary to do well at the Indian Open this week and the the the artificial intelligence gentleman That’s how we say it. Let’s see what Let’s see what he’s got to say and then I’ll I’ll see if that uh that correlates with the guys I picked.
So, metrics this week at DLF Golf and Country Club uh profile this week it is penal technically demanding um extreme undulations, narrow corridors, severe penalties for errant shots. So, we’re looking at shots game approach and shots gained around the green uh relative to total performance. metrics. We’ve got as he as he just said there, strokes gained on approach very very high. Um tiered greens avoiding dead zones on the green high as well. Massive advantage due to the difficulty of scrambling from deep bunkers and runoff areas.
Um moderate off the tea. So you don’t have to be a you know hugely accurate here but accuracy driving accuracy is high. So that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. You got to be accurate off the tea. Yeah. Yeah. But you can’t stroke gained off the tea doesn’t matter, which is a bit of a strange one. And then it’s accuracy over distance, isn’t it?
If you look at strokes gained off the te probably largely correlate with um with distance rather than looking at the metric there is basically fair fairways hit rather than rather than um See it brings the shorter players into play. Yeah, like Kaz Kazuma Kabori is one that sticks out to me there. Strokes game putting moderate lag putting is prioritized over birdie making due to the severity of the green contours. Yeah, standard week really play with the following statistical profiles. Precision ball striker. Yeah, there you go.
Yeah, neutralizes the bombers. So yes, you’re looking you look fair and then Paul Strikers and that’s right really in it. Last week it was all about bombers which it wasn’t in the end but um we had a bit of a nightmare last week. There was two courses instead of one. So we apologize to anyone who was too who was befuddled even like myself.
I picked just bombers and ho ho the bombers bombed out. The bombers bombed out. Lindberg, notable mention, five over on the last day, but we move. Um, elite scramblers. To be honest though, what I see on tour and we’re looking at the stats is everyone’s an elite scrambler on tour better than us anyway.
Yeah, a lot of people are I mean there’s not really that much in it. There you go. So that cover covers off what we just said. Basically distance from the edge of the fairway is more predictive model than the metric this week than distance. Um so yeah, you want basically the good ball striker throughout off the green approach. Uh and if they’re they’re struggling with their approach shots and missing the green that them them guys can get up and down.
So what uh what does that say about who who it reckons is in contention? What you reckon? Got to say because of his pedigree. I don’t think he is. He’s the elite player in the field and he’s far and away going to be a strong favorite this week.
He’s the Patrick Reed of the week. There you go. Oh, what’s a surprise? High seal in the field. Technical advantage on high difficulty setups elite. Is that the highest probability win we’ve seen so far or? We’ve seen Scotty higher, but for DP World Tour, I think that might be our highest. Yeah, I think it is. Let’s see.
So, yeah, I mean, he’s going to if we if we look at DP World Tour quickly, he’s 80% owned. Yeah, he’s going to be massively captained, which kind of makes the game a bit bit of a damn script this week really because a bit like Liv, everyone’s going to captain A and it’s case of finding the other the other point scorers really.
Thing is though, if a misses the court, you’re and you don’t pick him, you’re well in, aren’t you? No, it’s that it’s that it’s whether you Yeah. Not with him or against him. Uh Casey Jarvis currently red hot form. Highest two strokes gained over the last 30 uh days just just flying this last last month or so. Yeah. Uh Eugino Kakara won this last year. Uh AI gent liked him last week as well for his length. Yeah.
Maybe he’ll excel this week on a on a tighter course. I think I feel like Shicara went through more of a um a bit of a purple patch last season throughout this bit. I think he was more informed than he is now. So that’s a bit of a for me. Yeah. Yeah, I’m like that. David Pooj um 8% probability elite strokes gained off the tea. Um but that’s not all looking for this week.
No, he’s got technical fit for narrow corridors, strong performance in high strength field crossover events. Don’t know what that means, but he’s bloody good. That’s what I know. And yeah, it means that he’s on live and he and he’s crossing over. He’s coming back. We discussed off camera beforehand, didn’t we, about his potential, his last sort of chance of getting in the Masters.
He needs to win uh and probably a few other uh cards to fall in fall in this place as well. Um sorry for a cold need to get in that top 50 in the world. Uh he had a sixth place finish on Liv last week and puts him up to 75th in the world. I’m not quite sure if we’ll get him into the top 50 or not, but he’ll be uh going to be trying his damnest.
Like this may come for this may come for a massive shock with seeing burnt Whisburger there, but the guy’s in form. You can’t take it away from him. His iron play shows a made cut and a stable floor for points. I can’t argue with that. Is his form over the last five weeks is unbelievable considering he’s been around since 1985. So yeah, he’s one to consider. 12th and 14th his last two starts. Funny top 10 strokes gained approach ticks the boxes. And then last last one for the AI gent this week in terms of model is Shabbanka Sharma.
It wouldn’t be a a fantasy golf club podcast if we didn’t have a bit of local nationality bias, would it? No, it wouldn’t. And we’ve done that since day one to be fair. Um it’s probably a lazy pick from the AI gen. But watch expert high driving accuracy. Uh, and this course is a massive variable and this guy knows his way around.
So, to be fair, when you play your local club, you you tend to want to win it more. So, I’ I’d agree with that. I think it’s a good pick. All right. So, should we move on to our sleepers and fades for the week? Yeah, let’s have a look. So sleepers first we’ve got via Alawat back on to the old uh national national bias AI is very very much a man of after our own hearts extreme local knowledge second in this two years ago
lad straight in no straight straight consideration I went with the the Um I I saw his form on the Hotel Planetour last season at some point and I thought yeah he’s he’s he’s one to pick here and he he missed the court. So him and Tristan Lawrence are currently doing stuff in the bin which I don’t want to talk about on this podcast.
and Elvis smiley. I don’t know who’s sleep
straight in my team after a barter, mate. Former momentum. Yeah, he’s he’s he’s captain material after a if a wasn’t playing, he’d be captain for me. Winner winner on tour this year. Stroke games approach um is is up there. Winner on Liv. Liv. Liv is
Yeah, it’s hard to win on Live. We’ve just been talking about it off camera. Bryson very difficult to win on Monopoly. Bryson and Liv got on Bryson Ram.
Liv wins every week. There’s your sleepers. Who we feeding? Fading Bart here. Can’t be Bart here, can we? Can’t be. Can’t be. Let’s have a look. Gunberg. Jordan Gumbberg. Yeah. Hung over. Hover over. Let me have a look. Does Does anything say hang over there? Regression candidate. Yeah, that means hung over.
That that’ll do for that means too many. Jameson’s or too many um Jim Beam and Lemonade for Jordan Gonberg. Tell you what, our theory is like however right or wrong they are that there’s a there’s a correlation between what the AI saying and what we say. So we can’t be too far off even if we get it wrong most of the time. I mean the one thing to to note is the AI gent and us cannot predict the future.
It may have stats to back it up like we have, but we cannot predict the future. We’re not Mystic Meg. We’re not Brian Connelly. Briston Lawrence, get in the bin, son. Our second paid relies on power and aggressive lines, and the course tool suggest he is going to be punished. Yes. Get in the bin. If you haven’t watched us before, watch all of the last 18 months.
We’re the podcast. You’ll see that I I’ve been burned by Tristan Lawrence and I dislike the the guy. He’s going to be walking like John Wayne this week with Via Alawat. So, we will see. He’s not just in a bin. He’s in a wheelie bin.
Uh, I’ve just got my team up on screen quickly. I don’t know if anyone cares. No one cares. No one cares. Um, this was pre AI genty. You see David? Yes. Yes. Oh my word. Yeah. Just popped his head out the bin for the week. Um Dan’s gone mental. David Puj has recovered. I have a smile as recovered. Casey Jarvis on the bench for Adrian Agi. I think it’s time to go to bed. Daniel, mate, just look at look at his last three starts there for me. Just read Just read them out.
Just read them out. I’ve noticed them coming up. I’ve noticed them coming up. He he he’s finally got and he used to be half decent and he’s fell off a cliff since he changed his nationality. Um but yeah, three weeks in a row there. Six six third. Can’t knock that. He’s doing well, albeit slowly. Let’s ride that wave slowly. Yeah, slowly.
He’s slow, isn’t he? He is slow. He He’s he he he gives uh what’s his name? Can’t lay a run for his money, don’t he? We went we watched him in Wentworth, didn’t we? And he was literally we were like we’re not watching him anymore. Bank we’re getting off. Yeah. Six point waiting for Tat. Yeah, we did. Um anyone we’ve not covered off you fancy this week? You seen Javo on the bench there? Scott Olson’s on me bench. I don’t think he’s not getting in me team but he’s a cup maker. He’s consistent. I don’t know. No for me. No.
I think uh it’s going to be a safe week this week. David Puj, Casey Jarvis, Bartier um takes no absolutely not. I’m never picking him in my life. Don’t care if he wins.
What about What about arms and takes? Playing well. Yeah, he he finished well last week, didn’t he? But again, yo-yo man, he seems to do this and then he he’ll probably finish 50th or Mr. Cup. Cuts there. That’s five in a row. Kazuma Kabori for me is one that’s going to make it in my team. Yeah, he’s current he’s tied for ninth, tied for 34th, but as you said, he’s not the longest on tour, but he’s the most accurate in it. So, with how this course is playing up, I think he’s one to pick.
Yeah, like it. I like him. He’s He’s He’s not far away from a win, I don’t think. I saw him at West Lanc last year when he was uh qualifying and you know what striking the ball the sound of the ball was unbelievable. So he definitely got it. Yeah. There you have it. Picks sleepers and fades for the final DP World Tour event before the first major of the year, the Masters.

Pig sleepers are paid for that for the Houston. Is it Houston open this week? I think it is the children’s the is it? Yeah, Houston open the the children’s something. Anyway, there we go.
